Strong club presence in Wellington XV match on Monday

There will be a strong Wellington club rugby presence in the squads of both teams in Monday’s Queen’s Birthday match between Horowhenua Kapiti and a Wellington XV in Levin.

The home side features three current Wellington club rugby players, including Tawa inside back pairing James So’oialo and Kalim Kelemete – both of whom are playing off the bench for Tawa in club rugby tomorrow - as well as Norths halfback Leon Ellison.

Mannasah Wineera (ex-Johnsonville), Levi Kemp (ex-Avalon/OBU/Johnsonville) and Bronson Talivai (ex-Paremata-Plimerton) fill the Horowhenua-Kapiti roster of Wellington club players.

Visitors Wellington will have several players with Wellington Lions experience, and most will still be playing club rugby on Saturday.

Kick-off is at the Levin Domain is 2.30pm and entry is of a gold coin donation with all proceeds going to Tyrone Rerekura, who collapsed playing on 28 April in a match between Waikane and Toa. He has since been diagnosed with a brain tumour and is being well cared for.

It is assumed that this match does not carry first-class status.
