Johnsonville as a suburb has a rich history, dating back to 1841 and despite a challenging period for the Rugby Club in recent times; we are dedicated to turning this around with a vision of success over the next 3-5 years. This will be a significant challenge and we are seeking coaches who want to take their careers to the next level.

We are seeking applications for the following roles for the 2017 rugby season:

  • Premier’s Coach
  • Senior 1st’s Coach
  • Colts Coach

The ideal candidates will be able to demonstrate the following attributes;

  • You can drive change!
  • You are a people’s person and can relate to people and players of all ages and cultures
  • You are technically sound and your understanding of the new age game of rugby is extremely proficient
  • You are hardworking and committed
  • You want to embark on a growth opportunity!

Johnsonville Rugby Football Club – Rugby Development Officer

This will be a significant challenge and we are seeking a Rugby Development Officer to create the necessary gateway between junior and senior rugby and to promote rugby in the greater Johnsonville area.
A unique opportunity

Wellington Rugby runs a unique Rugby Development Officer (RDO) programme. The Union is able to in conjunction with clubs have an RDO at each premier club and Wellington is the only province in New Zealand that currently has this initiative running.

The role is to designed to support our community game building relationships between clubs and schools, supporting coaches and volunteers in these organisations. Coach development, player development and community development are key priorities to help our kids grow in the game of rugby.

The key attributes and objectives that this candidate will need to deliver on include the following:

  • You can recruit sufficient coaches to support the player intake at the club
  • You can provide training and support to all new and existing coaches
  • You reward and acknowledge coaches in appropriate ways
  • You can recruit and retain players going to and leaving secondary schools
  • You promote and develop rugby in primary schools and creating the linkage between Junior and Senior grades in the greater Johnsonville area.

This role has dual reporting lines to both the Club and the Union and requires strong people management, communication (written and verbal), teamwork, technical knowledge of the game and is highly organised.
