WSRU U18s trials and Inaugural Old Timers’ Day coming up

The Wellington Samoa Rugby Union (WSRU) is holding the first of two trials this coming Saturday for its U18 representative team.

Over 70 players (see names below) have been selected from an initial nomination pool of over 100 to play in this weekend’s first trial at Ngatitoa Domain.

From this group – some will be playing for their schools in this weekend’s secondary school finals – a group of 44 players will play in the second trial next Saturday, which also coincides with the WSRU’s inaugural Old Timers’ Day at the Paremata-Plimmerton RFC.

This year’s Old Timers’ Day is all about getting the past players to catch up and reminisce about the good old days. All former players and supporters are welcome. On the field, the second WSRU U18 Schoolboys trial kicks off at 11am, followed by the Wellington Samoans Men’s match against Hawke’s Bay Samoa at 1.15pm and then the after match is between 4pm-5.30pm.

This coming weekend, the Wellington Samoans Men’s team meets Wellington Maori in their third and final Festival Series match at Porirua Park.

The following players (listed by school) have been selected to take part in this weekend’s initial trial for the WSRU U18 Secondary Schools team. All players are to arrive at the ground by 9.30am sharp and are asked to bring their rugby gear, mouthguard and food and water for the day.
