Busy stretch of representative rugby coming up

Above: There's plenty of rugby coming up on Jerry Collins Stadium over the next several weeks.

Updated with Wellington Maori, Samoans and Centurions squads at bottom: The 2017 club and college season might be winding down, but a bumper stretch of representative rugby is just getting underway.

Plenty of secondary school post-season knockout rugby coming up soon, as school teams aim to qualify for the National Top 4 tournament in Palmerston North in early September.

A full programme of Hurricanes Youth Council U16, U18, and U19 rugby starts in earnest this coming weekend and runs through to the start of October.

The Hurricanes U19 Central Region Shield between Wellington, Manawatu, Hawke’s Bay and the just selected Hurricanes Heartland U20 side is played over the next three weekends. This is then leads up to the National U19 provincial tournament in Taupo from 10-16 September.

The Hurricanes Development Shield and competition this year is being contested by the Wellington Centurions Development, Wellington Maori and Wellington Samoan teams (who will also compete for the Festival Cup), as well as the Manawatu Evergreens and the Hawke’s Bay Saracens.

The Wellington Development side that is chosen from the three Festival Cup squads, plays just three matches this year and just one at home. Starting at the end of September, they play Tasman in Blenheim, Canterbury at home and then Auckland away.

The Wellington Pride play home matches at Jerry Collins Stadium, against the Hawke’s Bay Tuis, the Manawatu Cyclones, the Auckland Storm and the Counties Manukau Heat.
