The WRFU was formed in 1879 and the first senior club championship was contested the following year. Between 1880-1928 a total of 48 Senior Club Championships were contested between Wellington's burgeoning clubs, many of whom have since come and gone or amalgamated with others.
A Club Championship winner or winners (shared in 1883 and 1914) was found every year between 1880-1928 except in 1881 when no matches were played -mainly on account of the then ground the Basin Reserve being closed for repairs and a rough paddock at Lower Hutt being the only ground available.
A complete list of winners for the above trophies, current to the end of 2016, can be found here - or if that link is broken please cut and paste this link into another window in your browser: http://www.clubrugby.co.nz/wellington/story.php?id=2276
The Jubilee Cup 1929 -
Wellington club rugby's premier trophy, the Jubilee Cup, was presented by the Wellington Rugby Football Union in 1929 in recognition of its golden jubilee year and is currently awarded to the winner of the competition among the top eight teams in the Premier One division. The Jubilee Cup still remains as the definitive accolade in Wellington club rugby
The Swindale Shield 1969 -
The Swindale Shield, Wellington Premier rugby's first round title, is played over the first eleven weeks of the season from late March to Early June between the top twelve Premier clubs in a round-robin format to decide the winner. Originally played for over a century ago and then neglected, the Swindale Shield was famously ‘found' in a broom cupboard at the old Athletic Park and has been contested annually since 1969.

The Hardham Cup
The Hardham Cup was presented for the first time by the WRFU in 1939, to be awarded for competition among the then six teams in the bottom section of the Senior First Division.? Wellington College Old Boys were the first winners of this trophy. The cup was awarded to honour William James Hardham, VC, who was born in Wgtn in 1876. He was a talented rugby player, playing for Petone and representing Wellington from 1897-99, 1903-06, and in 1908 and 1910.
