April 2013:? Misipalauni Monanau achieved a very rare and remarkable? club rugby feat by reaching the personal milestone of 250 Premier appearances for Poneke in their round six Swindale Shield match against Hutt Old Boys Marist. In achieving this, it can be noted that Poneke caps are only awarded for starting XV appearances - so all 250 were as part of the run-on team.
October 2009 profile: Poneke captain Misipalauni Monanau’s move from the midfield to the forwards this year was a hugely successful one for the popular and inspirational Poneke captain, regularly leading from the front from his new position at No. 8. Captaining a team famed for its gritty, no-nonsense approach, Moananu was the personification all those qualities both on attack, where he led the way and also scored seven tries, and on defence, in a string of Player of the Match awards.
With 12 seasons now under his belt since debuting in 1997, Moananu ended the 2009 club season sitting on 196 premier starting caps for the Poneke premiers.
