Sciascia enjoying being back in Wellington Premier rugby
Above: Peter Sciascia on the charge against Upper Hutt in 2008, the year he helped MSP win the Swindale Shield-Jubilee Cup double in his first season with the club. Back from a year off, he's aleady made his mark on the 2012 competition and more silverware beckons. It's no coincidence that when Peter Sciascia is on the field the rugby's invariably exciting. The livewire halfback, who has recently returned from back-to-back seasons playing club rugby in Northern Ireland, has made an immediate impact in the three full Swindale Shield games he's played so far in 2012...More

Above: OBU first five-eighth Seminar Manu is caught in the tackle of Poneke's Ben Huntly with nowhere to go. Just when it seemed that the 2012 Swindale Shield couldn't get any tighter it just has. Some significant ?results in Saturday's ninth round set of matches have ensured that the all-important race for Jubilee Cup spots will go down to the wire over the final fortnight of the first round competition...More

This season's Swindale Shield is proving as wide open as its been for several years, but the race to the title could become clearer after this Saturday's ninth round set of matches. With four of the five current frontrunners set to clash on Saturday and the fifth set down to play a desperate Norths at Porirua there could be some significant movement on the points table later in the day. There's 15 competition points up for grabs for each side over the final three rounds and as it stands there's just six competition points separating the leading five contenders, so rugby fans won't want to miss any of it before they head to Westpac Stadium to watch the Hurricanes take on the Rebels from 5...More
