Round 4 Review Returning Northern United openside flanker Serge Lilo played a leading hand in his side?s triumphant victory over Upper Hutt in their top-of-the-table round four Jubilee Cup clash on Saturday. In a narrow contest, characterised by outstanding defence from both teams, New Zealand Colts tearaway Lilo was consistently first to the breakdowns, where he led a committed Norths pack to a popular win at home at Porirua Park, and to a three-point lead at the top of the points table. This result also sees Petone leapfrog Upper Hutt into second, after the Villagers bounced straight back from losing to them last week with a comfortable win over Avalon...More

Both these teams are near certainties to feature in the playoffs, and based on their 2005 form, this game could be an overture for the final on August 14. However, HOBM will be eager to take maximum points this weekend in the build up to their encounter against Old Boys-University in Round five. Heading into this week?s round HOBM and OBU are joint leaders with 14 points...More

Hutt Old Boys Marist had another win against Petone on Saturday 57-8, bringing them level with OBU on 14 points. Round 3 Review It was a set of thrilling games in the Jubilee Cup, but Northern United and Upper Hutt emerged as the two unbeaten teams after round three. The match of the round saw the remarkable Upper Hutt absorb all sorts of pressure before edging out Petone. At the other end of the table Tawa beat Western Suburbs by the same three-point margin to realistically end Wests? hopes of a playoff berth, and Avalon pipped Marist St. Pats to register their first win of their Cup campaign. Meanwhile, Norths continued their recent dominance over Poneke, despite the red-and-blacks pushing them close all the way...More
Round 3 Preview Can Old Boys-University continue their winning form and remain on the top of the Hardham Cup table when they play Oriental-Rongotai at the Polo Ground this weekend? After a winless Swindale Shield OBU have collected maximum points from their opening two Hardham Cup games and a win in round three will see them on track for a strong showing in the playoffs. Both these sides have that winning feeling at the moment, and whoever wins this game will head into the final six weeks of the competition as firm favourites to lift the Cup. Round 2 Review Petone, Northern United and Upper Hutt are the unbeaten teams after two rounds of the Jubilee Cup. Of the trio, Norths enjoyed the easiest ride in round two, winning comfortably over neighbours Tawa, while Petone made hard work of beating an unimaginative Marist St. Pats, and Upper Hutt outlasted Western Suburbs. Poneke were the other winners of the round, dining out on Avalon. Round 2 Preview Round two?s feature match sees multiple Jubilee Cup winners Petone and Marist St. Pats meet. Petone beat Poneke 24-7 and MSP held off Tawa 29-22 last week, to see both gain maximum points from the first round. Petone are in top form at the moment. They have won their last six games, including a 25-20 victory over MSP just three weeks ago and they haven?t lost at home since round one, when they were pipped by Upper Hutt...More
