Hutt Old Boys Marist Look For Two From Two

Hardham Cup | 24 June 2005 | William Bedford
RLM Round 2 Preview The second round of the Hardham Cup presents some good match ups with all teams eager to get ahead of the pack. Old-Boys University will be keen to continue their winning streak after taking their first win of the season last Saturday against MSP. They face Northern United who were thrashed 53-6 in the mud by Oriental-Rongotai last week.

After a narrow loss to Petone in round one, Poneke will be looking to put one up on Johnsonville who also failed to win last weekend. Petone face Harper Lock Shield champions MSP and will be hoping to grab another four points, keeping them near the top of the table.

The feature match this weekend will be one to watch with Hutt Old Boys Marist looking to make it two from two against Ories. When both sides last met in the Swindale Shield it was HOBM that came away with the win (31-17). Ories are coming off a huge win over Northern United and will have some confidence going into the encounter. HOBM also had a big win over Johnsonville in front of a home crowd last weekend, a luxury they won?t have at the Polo Ground this Saturday. Nine tries was an impressive total by Ories, which HOBM will have to take into consideration before the match. However, the kicking could prove crucial on Saturday and Ories will be mindful they need to improve after converting only two of their nine tries last weekend.

A win for either team would get them that much closer to the semi-finals and ultimately cementing a place in the top four. Favourite?s HOBM can?t afford to take this game against Ories lightly who will be determined to spoil their perfect start.
