Round 7 Preview The last games of the round robin will be played this weekend seeing the top four teams advancing into the finals. The feature match for Saturday is Old Boys University versus Petone at the Basin. OBU will be favourites to win the encounter after their impressive form throughout the Hardham Cup. OBU managed to beat Johnsonville 23-13 in round six, giving them an impressive record of five wins and one loss, which will work in their favour this weekend. Petone will be eager to bounce back from their embarrassing 81-0 thrashing by Oriental-Rongotai last weekend.
Mike Te Moana is just one of OBU?s attacking weapons which they will be sure to utilise during this encounter. Also Patrick Maguire is right up near the top of the point?s board for his kicking contribution and will be keen to continue his form this weekend. Petone have had only two wins to date in the Cup, currently sitting on 10 points they will be hoping to add to this against OBU. The underdogs have proven on occasions that it is possible to have an unexpected victory and Petone will not go down without a fight.
In other games this weekend Hutt Old Boys Marist take on Marist St Pats at the earlier time of 1.00pm at Evans Bay Park. It should be an easy win for HOBM who will be hoping to make it seven out of seven in the Hardham Cup. At Helston Park Johnsonville play a rejuvenated Northern United whose new found form has seen them win their last two games. Poneke will need to dig deep after their 69-0 loss to HOBM last week when they meet Oriental-Rongotai at 1.15pm at Kilbirnie Park. Riding high after last weekend?s performance, Ories will again be looking for maximum points and a semi-final placing.
